The incident occurred on Halloween morning when the deputy responded to a call about the owl caught at the top of a fence.

The group managed to calm the bird and began untangling its wing from the old, rusty barbed wire.

After freeing the owl, the deputy wrapped it in a towel and placed it in their car, turning on the heater to provide warmth.

Despite their efforts, the owl died as a result of its injuries a few days later.
